A startling match at Ekana Stadium
A warm welcome to all our readers who’ve been following IPL highlights with us. Ekana stadium, Lucknow hosted an a much awaited match between PBKS & LSG, yesterday on 1st April, 1st April, 2025. Also this match was the second match of IPL for PBKS. As a result, in no time, became a way to showcase PBKS explosive batting. Hers’s what happened in the match.
Pitch Conditions & Expectations
Being a Red-soil pitch, Ekana is a batting-friendly. Also, a stadium with really big boundaries (70m, 64m square and 77m cover). Yet, it provides Batters with a chance to increase NRR throughout the match. However, it has some advantages to Bowlers as well. Added, to the big ground, the red-soil pitch supports pace & bounce. This time, the pitch had an even covering of grass. Hence, did not support pace that much. Also, there was not much dew on the pitch.
LSG’s struggle with falling wickets
PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl. Nicholas Pooran & Ayush Badoni really did well, bagging runs for their team, spending some time on the pitch. Pooran hit 44 off 30 balls with 5 fours & 2 sixes. On the other hand, Badoni handled the other side, having a partnership with Pooran. He scored 41 off 33 balls with 3 sixes an a Strike Rate of 124.24. On the Bowling side, Arshdeep Singh took played a crucial role, taking 3 wickets with an economy of 10.8. Other bowlers however mostly took 1 wicket, while keeping there economy lower than 10.
Two Partnerships : PBKS’s expert batting…
Now, it was time for the second inning. Prabhsimran Singh opened with Priyansh Arya, but managed to secure a whooping 69 Runs off just 34 balls with a powerful Strike Rate of 202.94. However, he was later caught out by Shardul Thakur, bowled Digvesh Rathi. At the end we saw a powerful partnership of Nehal Wadhera & Captain Shreyas Iyer. Afterwards we saw a Match-winning Six from the Shreyas Iyer, towards the long-on boundary. Yet, Digvesh Rathi, did take 2 wickets with an economy of 7.50. However, call it two strong partnerships from PBKS or a weak bowling attack from LSG, the match really had a cinematic climax.
Conclusion
PBKS scored a win against LSG at their home. After all, the match was full of twists & turns. Also the red-soil pitch did well for spinners. Later, Prabhsimran Singh was awarded Player of The Match for his efforts.
