

Special about Sawan
Sawan is the time when nature is in it’s full bloom, rains are generous and there is a rise of new hope. It is the fifth month of the Hindu calendar. It is considered the holiest month for worshiping Lord Shiva. It is during this month Shiva drank the poison from the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) to save the world, he held the poison in his throat. This act turned his throat blue, from their his name Neelkanth emerged. 

Importance of Mondays
The Mondays of Sawan are highly beneficial and observing these fasts is said to satisfy one’s greatest dreams. Devotees keep fast offer milk, curd and visit to Shiv Temple especially on monday. It is consider as day of Shiva.
Ways to offer Shiva during sawan
Vrat (Fasting)
Fasting is essential part of devoting every people keep fast but they have their own ways, some people keep a full day fast i.e. eating only fruits and water, some do partial fasting i.e. eating one meal usually at the night after doing evening pooja while some do nirjala i.e. not having water for the whole day.
