आज के दिन माँ महागौरी को समर्पित करते हुए आइये माँ का महिमा मंडन मकरते हैं, और जानते हैं कैसे माँ हुईं महागौरी ?
माँ महागौरी के पावन स्वरुप का वर्णन
देवी माँ सदैव ही सफ़ेद वस्त्र धारण करतीं हैं। इसलिए हम सब उन्हें ” श्वेताम्बरधरा “ से भी जानते हैं। माँ महागौरी शिवभक्त नंदी जी पर सवार होतीं हैं।
वे सैदेव ही अपने हाथों में त्रिशूल और डमरू धारण करती हैं, एवं अन्य दो हाथों में वर एवं अभय मुद्रा धारण करतीं हैं। उन्हें नंदी जी पर सवार होने के कारन हम सब वृषारूढ़ के नाम से भी जानते हैं। अब आइये माता की रोचक कथा का मंचन करते हैं।
माता महा गौरी की पौराणिक कथा
हिमालय पधारे मुनि श्रेष्ठ नारद
जब नारद जी एक बार हिमालय पधारे, जब माँ पार्वति छोटी बालिका थीं। वे छोटी सी माँ पार्वति कि आभा मंडल से ही समझ गए कि यह वे माता सती का पुनर्जन्म थीं। उन्होंने पर्वत राज हिमालय एवं महारानी मैनादेवी से वार्तालाप में बताया कि माँ पार्वति का विवाह भगवान शिव से होना लिखा हुआ है। यह बात सुनकर बालिका माँ पार्वति, महलों का सुख संसाधन सब त्याग कर हिमालय के घने जंगलों में तप करने लगीं। माना जाता है जहाँ उन्होंने तप किया वह जगह आज गंगावतार स्पॉट के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है।
माँ गौरी अर्थात पार्वति का घोर तप
देवी माँ पार्वति ने हज़ारों वर्ष तक के अपने तप में, धीरे धीरे करके सरे भोगों का त्याग कर दिया। कुछ वर्षों के उपरांत उन्होंने सिर्फ बिल्वा पत्र ( बेल पत्र ) से अपनी भूख मिटाई। उसके पश्च्यात उसका भी त्याग कर बिना खान-पान के घोर तपस्या में लीन रहीं। उन्होंने अपने पुरे तप के काल में कभी भी अन्य जीव जंतुओं का भक्षण नहीं किया।
प्रसन्ना भगवान महादेव का माँ पार्वति की तपस्या से प्रकट होना
हज़ारों वर्ष बीत जाने पर, जब भगवान शिव माँ पार्वति की तपस्या से प्रसन्ना होकर उन्हें दर्शन दिया, तब माँ पार्वति का तन तप के प्रभाव से गौर वर्ण का हो गया था। मान्यता है कि भवन शिव ने माँ को उनके तन को कांतिमय होने का आशीष दिया था। तब से ही माँ, महा गौरी के नाम से जनि जाने लगीं।
नवरात्री के अष्टम दिवस की महिमा
माता महा गौरी को समर्पित यह दिवस, हमें अपने सभी आशंकाओं एवं मोह से बहार आने का अवसर प्रदान करता है। मान्यता के अनुसार माँ महागौरी, हमारे जीवन में राहु तत्त्व का नियंत्रण करती हैं। इसलिए, आज जो भी भक्त उन्हें सच्चे मैं से स्मरण करता है, एवं उनकी पूजा अर्चना करता है, उसके अपने सभी आंतरिक दुविधाओं से मुक्ति प्राप्त होती है।

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ महागौरी रूपेण संस्थिता, नमस्तस्ये नमस्तस्ये नमस्तस्ये नमो नमः।।
