M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru hosted its first match between its home team RCB & GT. However, RCB didn’t expect the results, loosing their first match of the season on their Home Grounds. Also, now we have major changes to the points tally as well. This match results put prior undefeated RCB to the third position. Let’s know, what exactly went during the Match hours…
Pitch Conditions & Expectations
This match was played on Pitch 6, with boundaries as 68m & 61m Square Boundaries. Also Straight 73m, with 68m & 74m pockets on either side. The Pitch seemed firm, however, covered with grass. A very good, dry track, it was expected to provide with good bounce, however. Dew was expected to be a concern later, as there were forecast of Rain as well.
No one really knows about Bengaluru weather, however.
RCB’s struggles against GT’s Pacers
Phil Salt & Virat Kohli opened in the 1st inning, getting out early at 14 & 7 Runs. Afterwards, we saw a magnificent partnership of Livingstone & Jitesh Sharma scoring a total of 52 Runs. Also, at last we saw Tim David‘s performance scoring 32 Runs off 18 balls with a Strike Rate of 177.78. On the bowling side, Siraj & Sai Kishore played a crucial role taking 3 Wickets off 19 Runs & 2 Wickets off 22 Runs, respectively. Siraj got brownie points for his economy of 4.80.
GT’s wonderful Partnerships
Dew factor didn’t play much role, afterwards. The Titans opened with Sai Sudharsan & Shubhmann Gill, though, Shubhmann Gill was caught out early. Afterwards, Jos Butler took charge of the other end, showcasing a responsive play, with a huge partnership of 75 Runs with Sai Sudarshan. Later he finished with a total of 73 Runs not out with a Strike Rate of 187.18. Also Sherfane Rutherford too, scored 30 Runs off 18 balls with 3 sixes and a boundary. The dry pitch really played well for RCB pacers. However, could not get them a win. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took a wicket with a good economy of 5.80, along with Josh Hazlewood taking a wicket as well.
Conclusion
Speaking of the match, the pitch played a crucial role, pacers did well in the match. RCB had the combination of good spinners & pacers, could’ve defended the target very well. But, It was definitely a great win for the titans, winning the game by 8 wickets, adding a big chunk of NRR, boosting them ahead. However, keeping them just below RCB in the points tally.
