The UPT20 League 2024 kicked off with a spectacular opening ceremony that set the stage for an unforgettable season of cricket. The dramatic performances of Bollywood’s best artists, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon, and Badshah, electrified the evening. With his hit songs, Badshah—the king of beats—got the audience moving and filled the stadium with lively energy.
Then, with a performance that appealed to audiences of all ages, Ayushmann Khurrana delighted the crowd with his deep voice. Kriti Sanon stunned the crowd with her amazing dance abilities and lively character, adding a dash of sparkle and elegance. Shri Rajeev Shukla, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and Vice President, BCCI gave the players a token of motivation. He considers UPT20 league an excellent opportunity for the rising cricketers from Uttar Pradesh.
He added by saying, his brilliant players will showcase their talents and be selected for IPL or in the Indian Cricket Team. He also talked about increasing the teams from 6 to 8 where around 250 players will get opportunity to play in a great league. Matches Highlights
Day 1- Kashi Rudras v/s Meerut Mavericks
First match was held on 25 August between “Kashi Rudras” and “Meerut Mavericks” both the teams performed very well. Meerut Mavericks’ Swastik Chikara’s bat gave a half century to the team. Where bowling of Yash Garg gave the team important wickets. Yash Garg secured the “Player of the Match” position while Swastik Chikara was rewarded with “Perfect Grip Catch of the Match.” With the efforts of all the team members Meerut Mavericks won the match by 7 Wickets.
Day 2- Gorakhpur Lions v/s Noida Kings
An opportunity to showcase talent, Dhruv Jurel (caption) from Gorakhpur Lions finds the match very exciting as many sentiments are attached with it. Piyush Chawal’s bowling was definitely eye catching but Dhruv Jurel bating ability were unbeatable. Mohd Sharim gracefully won “Super Striker of the Match”, where Abhishek Goswami secured “Catch of the Match” reward. Aryan Juyal, the sunning performer was awarded as “Man of the Match.” Gorakhpur Lions won by 91 runs.
Lucknow Falcons v/s Kanpur Superstar
Sameer Rizvi’s excellent batting helped him secure his half century in the match. Amreesh Gautam (head coach of Lucknow Falcons) said to enjoy the match without worrying about the results his lively spirit will definitely motivate team to perform well. Pankaj Kumar from Kanpur Superstar was awarded with the “Catch of the Match” award, “Player of the Match” was given to the most deserving Sameer Rizvi. Kanpur Superstar won by 3 runs.
Day-3 Kashi Rudras v/s Gorakhpur Lions
Kashi Rudras were ready with a great comeback. Madan Lal Sharma(team director- Gorakhpur lions) appreciated Aryan for his flexible batting. Aryan Juyal and Dhruv Jurel again showed their battings skills, by Aryan Juyal making his century during the match. “Catch of the Match” was awarded to Shiva Singh. Sunil Kumar was “Player’s of the Match.” Kashi Rudras won by 22 runs (DLS)
Kanpur Superstar v/s Meerut Mavericks
The teams were playing very energetically in the ground, Vijay Kumar’s catch and Vasu Vats bowling gave the team(Meerut) their first wicket. Arvind Das Kapoor (Meerut team mentor) thanked all the senior authority including UPCA team for arranging such a great cricket league in Lucknow. He further added that such platform will definitely help new cricketers to make their place in IPL. Swastik Chikara for the second time was awarded with “Striker Of the Match”, while the “Player of the Match” was take by Zeeshan Ansari. Meerut Mavericks won the match by 6 Wickets.
Day 4- Lucknow Falcons v/s Noida Kings
In a nail-biting clash between Lucknow Falcons and Noida Kings, Piyush Chawla, “Player of the Match” turned the game with his brilliant bowling, taking three crucial wickets. . The match intensity soared as Chawla’s spell tightened Noida Kings’ grip, leaving the Falcons on the back foot. Noida Lions won by 5 wickets.
Kashi Rudras v/s Kanpur Superstar
Kashi Rudras secured a dominant victory, winning by 9 wickets, in a match that showcased their all-round brilliance. Shiva’s fielding pulled off a stunning catch that turned the match in their favor. Karan Sharma was awarded as “Player of the Match”, Shiva Singh received the honor of “Striker of the Match.” Shri Manoj Pundir, (hon’ble Secretary DCA, Muzaffarnagar) said it is a dream of every player to play for India. UP T20 is a great platform and opportunity for cricketing talent in UP.
Day5- Gorakhpur Lions v/s Lucknow Falcons
The match between the Gorakhpur Lions and the Lucknow Falcons was an exciting one, with plenty of action that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. With an outstanding catch, Vijay Yadav set the mood, while Saurabh Kumar’s superb fielding put more pressure on the Falcons. Dayal’s powerful bowling further threatened the Lucknow Falcons, placing them in a vulnerable position. But Kritgya Kumar Singh’s outstanding batting, which supported their innings, allowed the Falcons to make a stunning comeback. Another important player was Abhay Chauhan, who showed up when needed. Together, they helped the Lucknow Falcons reach a high score and win the game by 33 runs.
